The minimum requirements for admission in Master in Port & Shipping Management (MPSM) program are as follows:
a. A Bachelor degree or its equivalent in any field including Maritime Science, Business, Engineering, Agriculture etc.
b. Applicant with general education must have at least second division or CGPA 2.25 in all public examination.
c. Applicants with GCE must have passed at least five subjects in O-level (including mathematics) and at least two subjects in A level. However, applicant having more than two ‘D’ grades in O-level and/or more than one ‘D’ grades in A-level shall not be eligible for admission.
d. Applicants having at least two years job experience shall be given preference.
Master in Port & Shipping Management (MPSM) program is conducted by the Department of Port and Shipping Management under the Faculty of Shipping Administration (FSA). MPSM is an 18 months full time professional postgraduate program which is equally divided into three semesters. Total credits of this program are 60 including 9 credit thesis. Besides regular courses, workshop, seminar, guest lecture and certificate courses on contemporary issues are arranged frequently for the students. The program also includes at least one field trip/study tour/industrial visit in each semester. In the last semester, students go abroad for an international study tour. The duration of each semester is 26 weeks. Distribution of a semester is as follows:

Introduction to Port, Shipping and Maritime Organizations, Maritime Economics and Marketing, Cargo Operations Management, Fleet Management, Ship broking, Chartering, Sale and Purchase Management, Port Operation, Planning and Logistics, Port Design and Management, Maritime Safety and Security, Inland Waterway Transportation System, Strategic Management and Corporate Maritime Strategies, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Law and Insurance, Managerial Communications and Information Systems, Research Methodology, English for professionals, etc.
Special emphasis on legal & business concepts and skills required for effectively administrating any maritime business organization and handle its legal issues.
